Abstract

This study tested the association between different dimensions of in-group identification (satisfaction, solidarity, centrality) and subjective well-being among hearing-impaired adolescents, and the mediating effect of hearing-impaired peer support on this association. Questionnaires on subjective well-being, in-group identification, hearing-impaired peer support were completed by 366 hearing-impaired students (Grade 10~12) from special schools in Sichuan Province. The results showed that: 1) there were significant positive correlations among three dimensions of in-group identification (satisfaction, solidarity, centrality), subjective well-being, and hearing-impaired peer support; 2) hearing-impaired peer support only partially mediated the relationship between satisfaction and subjective well-being.
