The Process of Non-attended Language in Radical Search Task of Chinese-English Bilingual: An ERP Study

摘要/Abstract

摘要： 采用ERP技术探讨中英双语者在部件搜索任务中非目标语言的激活情况。被试为某师范大学通过英语专业八级的16名英语专业大学生。实验结果发现，中文作为非目标语言时出现了词频效应，表现在非目标语言中文的高低频词在P2波幅上出现显著差异，说明非目标语言中文能自动激活；而当英文作为非目标语言时在波幅上没有发现任何词频效应，说明非目标语言英文不能自动激活。总的结果表明部件搜索任务中双语者的非目标语言会自动激活，但这种激活会受到语言熟练程度的影响。

Abstract: This study adopts ERP technology to explore how the skilled Chinese-English bilingual process the non-attended language in radical search task. The 16 subjects are from South China Normal University, all of them passed Test for English Major Band eight. Only when Chinese as the target language, English as the non-attended language, we found frequency effect in non-attended language, this effect is index by the significant difference of high and low frequency Chinese words on the P2 amplitude. The results show that non-attended language can be activated when L1 as non-attended language, but when L2 as non-attended language cannot be activated. The overall results show that non-attended language can be activated but it is influenced by proficiency level of that language.
