Fathers’ Co-Parenting and Children’s School Adjustment: The Mediating Role of Father-Child Attachment

Abstract

Abstract: The current study aimed to investigate the association between fathers’ co-parenting and children’s school adjustment. It further intended to examine the mediating role of father-child attachment between fathers’ co-parenting and children’s school adjustment. A total of 892 children aged 9-11 were recruited to complete a series of questionnaires. Results showed that: 1) Fathers’ supportive co-parenting was positively related to children’s social competence. 2) Fathers’ unsupportive co-parenting was positively related to children’s antisocial behavior, and negatively associated with children’s social competence. 3) Father-child attachment mediated the association between fathers’ co-parenting and children’s social competence, and also played an intervening role in the relationship between fathers’ co-parenting and children’s antisocial behavior.

摘要： 为考察父亲协同教养对儿童学校适应的影响及父子依恋在其中的中介作用，采用父亲协同教养问卷、父子依恋问卷和中小学生学校适应行为量表对892名9～11岁儿童进行问卷调查。结果表明：（1）父亲积极协同教养显著正向预测儿童社会能力；（2）父亲消极协同教养显著负向预测儿童社会能力，显著正向预测儿童反社会行为；（3）父子依恋在父亲积极和消极协同教养与儿童学校适应之间均起中介作用。
