Resilience and Mental Health in Children and Youth: A Meta-Analysis

Abstract

Abstract: A systematic review was conducted to study the relationship between resilience and mental health in children and youth. A total of 42 independent effect sizes (27 studies, 25911 participants) were included in the meta-analysis according to the inclusion criteria. The results of random-effects model revealed that trait resilience was positively correlated to positive indicators of mental health (r=0.47) and negatively correlated to negative indicators of mental health (r=-0.38). The moderate effect analysis showed that group type and negative outcome type may moderate the relationship between trait resilience and mental health. These results indicated that resilience intervention may be important helpful to resist against harmful effects of adversity and promote positive mental health in children and youth.

摘要： 研究采用元分析技术探讨儿童青少年心理弹性与心理健康关系。通过文献搜索与检查获得了27项研究和42个独立效应量，共包含25911名被试。通过随机效应模型元分析发现，儿童青少年心理弹性与心理健康正性指标有显著的正相关（r=0.47），与心理健康负性指标有显著的负相关（r=–0.38）。调节效应分析表明，群体类型和消极结果类型会影响儿童青少年心理弹性与心理健康之间的关系。结果表明心理弹性干预对儿童青少年心理健康问题的减少和积极心理品质的培养都会产生重要的影响。
