    Abstract ( )   PDF (273KB) ( )   References | Related Articles | Metrics
This study investigated the mental rotation of mentally retarded children aged 9~12(average age 10.1, average IQ 53.8). Twelve sets of visual figures with different shapes were used as experimental samples in this study. Each set includes five similar figures. The subject was asked to find out the one figure which can not be matched with the other four in spatial position. Comparing the results with normal children aged 7~9(average age 8), the results showed that the matching speed and accuracy for mentally retarded children were inferior to that of the normal children. There were no significant differences between male and female in their mental rotation.

A questionnaire was used in this study to investigate 580 students′ relationship quality with their parents. The results showed: (1)The relationship qualities general features were that the relationship′s closeness was in high level, control was higher than average level, self-disclosure, autonomy and conflict were lower than average level, mutuality was in average level. (2)The relationships qualities have many facet significant developmental features, the second grade or/and the third grade is a special period. In the second grade, student-parent relationship′s self-disclosure begin to decline significantly relative to first grade, but insignificantly relative to third grade; autonomy begin to heighten up to third grade. In the third grade, student-parent relationship′s mutuality begin to decline significantly, conflict begin to increase significantly. (3)Many qualities of student-parent relationship are not only influenced by the student gender but also the parent gender, even the interaction of the student gender with the parent gender.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (453KB) ( )   References | Related Articles | Metrics
By using an on-line window display technique, the present study investigated the effect of chronological distance on updating spatial information without clue in text-reading. College students read short narrative passages from a computer screen and responded to recognition. The result of Experiment showed that readers used temporal information to update situation models while comprehending. Furthermore, the different interval after location shift differently affect access of objects from the previously situation. The results suggested that the time factors play an important role in the processing of spatial information.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (442KB) ( )   References | Related Articles | Metrics
216 aged 7- to 12- years old children were tested with Arabic numbers, English alphabets and Chinese characters as visual search stimulus displayed at PC computers, and their reaction time were recorded in the present study. The results shown that the reaction time declined when age increased. In other words, the visual search ability of children increased when they grow older. No gender difference was found in the present study, and no material difference too. The RTs, in general, for "No" is significantly longer than RTs for "Yes" of children. However, the RTs of right hand for "Yes" is shorter than left hand while RTs of left hand for "No" is shorter than right hand.

The purpose of the research is to compare the differences between pupils and college students in mental arithmetic times and spans. Thirty college students and thirty pupils are received mental arithmetic test. The results shows: (1)that the spans of mental arithmetic of college students are more than that of pupils except multiplication, there are no significant differences in the multiplication.(2)that the spent times of subtract and division mental arithmetic of college student are significant briefer than that the pupils, but there are no significant differences in the multiplication.

The present study examined the differences of the comprehension monitoring between excellent and poor readers by inconsistencies-detecting technology. The subjects of this study were 62 excellent students and 63 poor students in comprehension from elementary schools, junior high schools, senior high schools. The results showed: (1)The perception of internal and external incoherence of the children with learning disabilities was weaker than that of the excellent reader. (2)There was a significant correlation between perception in external incoherence and comprehension monitoring based on comprehension-confidence-evaluating technology, whereas the changing trend of the two variables was inconsistent; There was a significant correlation between perception in internal incoherence and comprehension monitoring based on comprehension-confidence-evaluating technology, and the changing trend of the two variables was consistent.

    2004, 2(1):  351-355.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (497KB) ( )   References | Related Articles | Metrics
This study aimed to reveal behavior pattern among 3~5 years old children in exchanging situation, and detect children′s ability of utilizing the social perceptual information to guide their exchanging choice. A new task was designed which formed a toy exchanging situation that requires children to take a part in exchanging. The subjects were 91 3~5 year old children. The results showed that with age growing, children′s performance in exchanging task improved significantly. The rate of children who completely pass through the task increased from 43.3% in 3 year group to 85.5% in 5 year group. Children′s explanation regarding successful exchanging gradually attributed more on the people involved rather than exchanging goods. It was suggested that during 3 to 5 years, there exists important developmental changing in children′s ability of utilizing the social perceptual information to guide behavioral decision.

In order to discover the discipline and characteristics of the new junior school student′s learning adaption, based on open-ended investigation, judgement and factor analysis, a enrollment adaption questionnaire for new junior school students is been designed. After that the author investigated 450 students three times. The results of this study show: Firstly, if we describe the developing trend of new junior school students′ learning adaption by graph we can find it appears the shape of "V". It illustrate that the leaning adaption of the new junior school students is very good in the first month, then it become bad in the second month, last it become well again in the fourth month. Secondly, there is obvious sex difference, school difference, and the difference of students origin in the new junior school students′ learning adaption. Finally, It′s necessary to strengen the guidance of learning in the second and third month.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (424KB) ( )   References | Related Articles | Metrics
Developmental Dyslexia is a failure to acquire reading skills that affects around 5%~10% of school children despite adequate intelligence, education and social background. Dyslexic people are often uncoordinated, with poor balance and delayed motor milestones such as crawling, walking, and learning to ride a bicycle. Specific behavioral and neuroimaging tests reviewed here indicate that dyslexia is indeed associated with cerebellar impairment in about 80% of cases. Increasing evidence has shown the presence of anomalies with the cerebella of dyslexic people And the metabolic of dyslexic′ cerebella is also different from the normal. Brain imaging studies also revealed dysfunction of their cerebella. According to the earlier cerebella deficit hypothesis, there is a direct relationship between articulatory skill and phonological skill. As counter evidence is accumulating, the prop revised the theory and linked dyslexia with time estimation deficit. In order to specify the role of cerebella in dyslexia, the further work should focus on pure dyslexia subjects and exclude the interference of attention deficit or hyperactivity disorder.
